We Are All In This Together: A Message From President Becky Williams

Members of SEIU District 1199 WV/KY/OH are working every day providing essential care, services, and protections to the people of our communities.

Hospital, nursing home, and home care workers, nurses, library workers, parole officers, educators, public employees, and private-sector workers are united in our efforts to stop the spread of this virus and ensure that all working families are safe, healthy and able to thrive in our community. Your heroic efforts are saving thousands of lives every day of Americans in West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio and across the country.

Our Union members are leading the fight against this virus. They are providing care to family members, friends, neighbors, colleagues of every American. Some are getting infected. Some are dying because they do not have proper protection. Some will watch patients die because there are not enough supplies. This is immoral. It is heartbreaking. And it is unnecessary. America needs leadership to protect all healthcare workers now.

That’s why our Union members are demanding immediate, sweeping action by the Trump administration to secure the health, safety, and long-term economic well-being of America’s workers by using the full power of the Defense Production Act to get more supplies and ventilators in the hands of healthcare workers immediately.

All of us must work together to ensure everyone has equal access to prevention, testing, treatment, and economic support regardless of how old they are, the color of their skin, where they were born, or how much money they make.

We are all in this together.

In Solidarity,

Becky Williams – President
SEIU District 1199 WV/KY/OH
