CLEVELAND, OHIO – America is steps closer to finally enacting historic, commonsense immigration reform that is worthy of our national values, with Cleveland-area small business owners, workers, clergymen and grassroots supporters championing the cause that would create a roadmap to citizenship for 11 million aspiring Americans.
Service Employees International Union Secretary-Treasurer Eliseo Medina, a nationally recognized leader on immigrant rights, will keynote two public events to continue the drumbeat for sensible and smart immigration reform that will allow aspiring Americans to walk the road to citizenship, protect all working families and strengthen future immigration channels.
First, Secretary-Treasurer Medina will join State Representative Dan Ramos for a press conference on immigration reform at 3:00pm at Black River Landing located at 421 Black River Lane in Lorain, Ohio.
Then Medina heads to Cleveland, Ohio where he is expected to rally with hundreds of fellow supporters of immigration reform for a town-hall style event dubbed “conversation on the issues that affect all of us.” Community leaders will speak on issues like workers’ rights, education, and healthcare with Medina as the keynote speaker talking about the importance of making immigration reform a reality.
The August 5th Immigration Roadshow events in Lorain and Cleveland serve as a precursor to the National Day of Action for Immigration Reform planned in cities across the United States on August 7th, coinciding with Members of Congress returning to their home districts for their long August recess.
