BECKLEY, WEST VIRGINIA – On Wednesday, October 23rd, from 3pm to 6pm, healthcare workers in Beckley, will hold an informational picket outside of Harper Mills, a long-term care facility. Workers with Harper Mills continue to ask Stonerise Healthcare to make improvements to working conditions and staffing.
Last week, workers with Harper Mills held a vigil, where Clyde McKnight, the Former President of the South Central Labor Council, led an opening prayer. Mr. McKnight expressed hope that Stonerise Healthcare would honor the contract that had been agreed upon.
“Members with Harper Mills continue to stand together and speak out because of underlying contract and staffing issues,” said Leigh Ann Day, a Coordinator with SEIU District 1199.
Workers with the facility say that management is acting without regard to the contract, which was agreed upon by both parties. “We continue to request Stonerise Healthcare to work with the Union and members to follow the contract and help resolve these issues and concerns.”
