Workers call for quality resident care, affordable health insurance and increased staffing
Cleveland, Ohio –Workers are concerned that residents could suffer if quality care is diminished by expensive cost of healthcare, low salaries and a decline in staff-resident ratios. Nursing home workers in Cleveland will gather for a candlelight vigil at Cityview Nursing Center, subsidiary of Communicare at the front entrance on Wednesday, June 25th 2014 at 4:15pm to illuminate the poverty that employees face.
Concerns about the struggle for workers to continue to provide quality care at Cityview is just one example of a downward pattern at one of several Communicare facilities. Supporters will gather to shed light on these workplace issues. “How can we ensure quality care for seniors and people with disabilities when we can’t take care of ourselves?” is just one of many questions workers want answers to.
SEIU District 1199 WV/KY/OH represents nearly 80 full-time and part-time nursing home staff members at Communicare’s Cityview Nursing Center.
