SEIU District 1199 WV/KY/OH is the healthcare and social service union for West Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio. District 1199 represents nearly 30,000 healthcare, social service, and public sector workers. The union is part of the Service Employees International Union whose 2 million members make it the largest union of healthcare workers and the fastest growing union in the world.

Ohio Healthcare
SEIU District 1199’s Ohio Healthcare division represents nearly 13,000 workers in a multitude of diverse fields. These industries include nursing homes, mental health facilities, hospitals, community organizations and home care as well as supported living homes.

Ohio Public Employees
SEIU District 1199’s Public division represents nearly 5,000 workers. These workers are employed in a variety of fields including higher education, Head Start programs, community action agencies, county government, libraries, boards of developmental disabilities and the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.

State of Ohio Employees
SEIU District 1199’s State division represents nearly 4,000 workers in 18 different agencies. These state agencies include the Adult Parole Authority, Board Of Nursing, Department Of Administrative Services, Department Of Aging, Department Of Development, Department Of Education, Department Of Medicaid, Department Of Public Safety, Department Of Veterans’ Services, Department of Rehabilitation & Corrections, Department Of Youth Services, Department of Developmental Disabilities, Department of Health, Medical Board, Mental Health & Addiction Services, Ohio Department of Job & Family Services, Opportunities For Ohioans With Disabilities, Pharmacy Board, Public Defender Commission and the Bureau of Workers Compensation.

West Virginia/Kentucky Healthcare
SEIU District 1199’s West Virginia and Kentucky Healthcare division represents nearly 7,000 workers. These fields include hospitals, nursing homes, community action agencies, clinics, councils on aging, Head Start, mental health, home care and blood services including the Red Cross.
